insulation - cavety wall

hi,
living in an old detached granite house....

solid granite, then a space, then the lath plaster...

you read about cavety wall filling.

is it possible to do this to my type of house..

sorry its not my husband that is posting, i am using his log. i asked him to post this a few days ago....

no doubt, he will come in and amend my post..

any assistance greatfully appreciated.

no, because you haven't got a cavity wall.

it would however be possible to pull off the old plaster, laths and battens, and replace them with a modern plasterboard/insulating foam compund board, or to pull it off, put up new battens and insulation, then plasterboard again. If doing that, bear in mind that for any given thicknesss, the rigid insulating boards like Celotex and Kingspan are better insulators than fibreglass or mineral wool. Polystyrene is not as good.

if doing this, remember to insulate the walls under the floors as well.
