Advice please
When testing a rcd protected circuit where and how would the
test be carried out?
Should you unplug everything on the circuit under test or
just switch it off at the socket.
Cheers

unplug everything (remember, your testing the fixed wiring, not accessories) and disconnect at RCBO/RCD

If it cannot be unplugged due to being hard wired through a fuse spur on the circuit under test would switching off/removing the fuse be surfice or would the appliance have to be disconnected at the spur.
Security lights, heaters etc.
Thanks for clearing this point up.

depends if the switch is double pole or not. switchin just the live will mean that when you test you will test between neutral and earth to the appliance and possible pick up a low resitance
