Since the heating turned off at 8am, the room has increased from 20 degrees to 24 degrees. Will need to open the hallway door to help cool it down soon.

I think the best solution to our carbon fuel crisis is to just build more homes with at least one main south facing room that is well insulated. A nice warm day room, bedrooms stay cool for night.

Certainly worth thinking about when buying or building a home. Lots of interesting wall insulations that will help too.

I just open the door and close the curtains. Was thinking of one of those crazy expensive retractable awnings, but will probably just keep closing the curtains!

Modern houses aren’t designed for passive solar storage…..which basically means South facing windows where the sun heats up a wall or floor.

Modern houses have the insulation on the inside, so there’s no masonry to store heat….which means they warm quickly when the heatings turned on, but cool down quickly as well
