I recently purchased a 1960s council-built house with a storage space underneath the bathroom, adjacent to the kitchen. The space is accessed from outside so is not heated/double glazed/sealed, and hence the bathroom feels much colder than the rest of the house.
There were some exposed drafty floorboards under the bath so I have laid down some old carpet and rock wool, the rest of the room is laminate over thin chipboard and the floorboards.
Would there be any benefit in insulating below the bathroom floor, either by taking up some floorboards or pulling down the plasterboard ceiling in the storage room?
Other houses in the vicinity have extended the kitchen into this space but this is far beyond my budget, and I appreciate the storage.
