insulation ?

Hi

I'm about to insulate an new loft out and just wondering what size ( thickness ) i'll need for the slopes/walls and ceiling. ps can I use rock wool for the ceilings. ps i'm using Xetratherm/kingspan.

I think it depends if you have/require building approval or not. I have done my loft room, no buildings approval as the room was already there and the council have no records anyway and I used 3" kingspan on the underside of the rafters. *Should* have used 6" I think, to get the current regs insulation level, but that was too much, both in space and money terms :D 3" has made a big difference to the evening out of temps in the loft room....
