Is it my boiler or is it my pipes?

Hi there.
I was hoping someone on here could help me.
Basically, there is no hot water coming to my shower.

The hot water is fine in respect of my kitchen sink and my bathroom sink. The problem is with the shower and my bath taps.

When I try to use the shower/bath taps, the orange "flame on" light on my boiler switches on (as usual) but, after about 30seconds to a minute, it flicks off again. Then, a minute or two later, it flicks on, again for half a minute or so, and again, flicks off etc.

I don't know whether this is a problem with my boiler however as, as I said above, the bathroom and kitchen taps work fine.

Of course I shall be calling a plumber in to fix it for me, I just wanted a little help in working out exactly whether the problem is with the boiler (in which case I shall call the British Gas people) or something else (in which case I shall call the plumber).

Oh, I haven't checked whether there are any problems with the central heating.

The boiler is a Main Combi 24 HE, if that helps.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

The boiler does not know where its hot water is going to.

I would guess that the flow rate is different at your bath tap and causing the boiler to show up a fault.

My best guess is that its a blocked secondary HE but it could be a temperature sensor or several other faults.

Excuse my ignorance but, you're saying it's likely to be a boiler problem?

Thanks for being so helpful!

Yes.

But you can check if I am right by setting a flow rate at the kitchen tap and seeing how the boiler behaves and then set the same flow rate at the bath tap and see if the boiler does the same thing.

Boilers dont have eyes!
