knitting is having a serious moment. Thanks to knitfluencers such as Katie Jones, Stephen West, Ella Emhoff and, of course, Tom Daley, the meditative hobby is riding a new wave of popularity. A big part of its appeal is making clothes and accessories – from waistcoats to hats, kids’ mittens and scarves.
It is relaxing and very much in vogue at the moment. I can sit and knit for hours. It is very addictive.

Our daughter used to go to 'knit & natter' classes when she lived in Islington. ‘Twas very popular with some of the younger generation. Mrs Mottie taught our daughter in law to knit and now she's always knitting. Mrs Mottie-to-be used to make a lot of her own clothes when she was young too. She's a sewing wizard.

My MIL is, but on a machine. She used to be a sewing ace at John Partridge. She does that over-locker thing and seam stitching if I need any jeans altering.

Has your account been hacked.
No, I started off crocheting just by chance for something to do. I got right into it and couldnt stop. I started to want more as my skills honed in and I became more advanced in the hobby. It then led to me start knitting and that was it, I was spending a fortune on wools and patterns, I knitted some amazing jumpers and quickly moved on to creating some wonderful pieces of art. Once you get good at it you just can't stop.

OMG!

Knitting is definitely back in fashion.

There’s been a big rise in arts and crafts, the growth of Hobbycraft shows that

My daughter started knitting (well, crocheting, which is exactly the same thing to me) a few years ago and is really good at it now. She's only 10, but makes jumper, scarves, hats, coats for the dog, etc etc.
She has attempted to teach me how to do it, but has so far been unsuccessful.
I guess I'm just too manly .

Crocheting is the best way to learn knitting, it is easier to get started and then you naturally progress to the more advanced section of the hobby, which is knitting. You musn't think of it in terms of being too manly to knit. Look at me as a great example, I am a great warrior and have extreme good looks along with an extremely manly physique, yet I am an advanced knitter. Don't give up.

Have you ever come across any wool that's made from steel?
Recycled girders or something...
I might be tempted if they did as that would defo be more manly.
Could chain mail crafting be considered a form of knitting, do you think?
I could go with that.

Jack of all trades.
