To DIY Experts and Plumbers,

So the bathroom sink drain is getting tired as you can see from the picture. Is that an easy job, or would it be more like a plumber's job?

It seems you might be able to find a replacement part easily (as long as the correct size), however, is the job quite complex? Or easy with patience?

Many thanks

Is that basin on a pedestal ?
If it is ,the pedestal will very often need to be moved to gain access to the waste and trap.

Take waste out first.
If you can't get it out should be easy enough to buy a new one and fit

A couple of additional pics to answer the first question. I believe that is a basin.
Access to the back is fairly restricted.

So if I can get the waste out, then all good to get it replaced, if unable to remove the waste out, then plumber job? correct?

The waste is held in place by the large black hexagonal nut below the basin ( just visible in your pic). As well as needing access to that ,you also need to get to the connection to the trap, which is the large white plastic nut below the aforementioned black nut.
Although it is possible to do it with the pedestal in place, it can be a challenge.
Only you can judge if it's within your skill set.

Are you confident to take sink off to gain access? That's what I would do

Check how the basin is fixed to the wall. Are there substantial screws, or is it just siliconed? You may be able to remove the pedestal by cutting away the silicone at the floor and then sliding / wiggling it out, leaving the basin held (more or less precariously) by the screws fixing it to the wall. Then dismantling and replacing the waste should be reasonably easy.
