Is there a maximum permitted length for a Soil Pipe run?

I've tried to Google the answer but I might as well be running a random number generator for the amount of differing answers thrown back.

Hoping this forum can be my definitive answer.

So assuming you have the necessary 1:40 drop from pan to stack ... is there a max length?

Six metres if I remember right, but I've seen longer.
