I have a thin cavity wall. So the plastic end of the elbow joint will be flush with the Hardie board. Is this ok? I see normally it should just be the copper pipe through the HB board but I was hoping I can just make sure the hole is big enough and as there'll be adhesive and tiles to go, the bits that will protude the tiled wall will only be the copper pipe.

Im hoping the hole in the HB will be small enough so that the bracket for the shower mixer valve will be able to screw into some of the HB

Just make sure the tile is cut as close to the pipe as possible and when the tile's fitted that the hole and surrounding area is full of adhesive, that should be enough when it's drilled and the plug is fitted it will hold the fitting kit nice and secure.

Just no swinging on the shower valve ;)

Thanks for the peace of mind. Perfect answer!

Actually quick question, when you full of adhesive, so you mean adhesive surrounding even the copper pipe? So that there is no flex? Will need to make sure everything is mm correct cos a little flex would help fitting the shower bracket.

No, just right up to the edge of the hole but the hole in the tile needs to be cored tight enough, <=18mm, to the pipe so there is enough tile to drill when the backplate (pic 2) is fitted and then get a plug in so it can then be screwed up without issue.

Ahh ok thanks. Thats what I was thinking. Scared me thinking you were suggesting adhesive onto the pipe
