I've never seen anything like this.
The S Trap was blocked with almost a solid lump of carbon that was shiny, lik coal, when I broke it up.
Has anybody any idea if there is a fault causing this?
Symptoms, lockouts, and listening to the flue outside a sound of gurggling water, inside lots of vibration, boiler fires but poor heat output.
Thanks
Derek

The sediment will be aluminium oxide from the heat exchanger. Normal but it should be annually cleaned off the HX surfaces and out of the trap.

Damn, I've dumped it in the bin and it has gone to the tip.
Perhaps it would be worth money????
Perhaps a budding business opportunity, cleaning out S traps and selling the products.
It reminds me of a dilemma we had at work with our boiler ash, it was waste for us and needed a licence to send of site as hazardous waste, lots of paperwork, but was the raw materials for the guy who made it into building blocks......
