In his wording, he carefully implies that Palestinian means Hamas

So he can pretend that murdering Palestinians is equivalent to fighting Hamas.

Not all.
Think back to the Apartheid in South Africa. It had its supporters, and far and away more detractors.
So an imbalance of opposition and supporters might indicate popular opinion, nothing more.

Why does it need balance? Hamas carried out terrible acts on 7th October and the whole of Palestine has suffered horrific genocidal attacks since then (and before) on innocent civilians. Why does there need to be balance?

Everyone is allowed an opinion. They form those opinions on events as they become aware of them.

It is not a case, in most cases, of blind allegiance to one side irrespective of their actions or inactions.
