Hi,
I've all types of central heating over the years, gas, oil, coal-fired back boiler and an anthracite-fired free standing stove system. But I believe that, given a reasonable time span, economy 7 storage radiators beat them all.
They don't have boilers and pumps to fail, valves to jam, pipes to pinhole, joints to leak, and radiators to sludge up. The electric heating just keeps working year after year without attention. You don't have to wait in for oil deliveries or the service engineer.
They are cheap to buy and easy to install and the radiators can be moved from postion to position quite easily. Now I admit that they are dear to run but I'm sure from my own experience that over the long term the costs are about on a par with proper central heating. The low initial cost and absence of maintenance costs makes up for the electric bills.
Even if this were not so, the sheer hassle-free experience would swing it for me.
