I have a McCallister jigsaw. Bought from B and Q, reduced from 50 to 25 pounds. So it's not a complete el-cheapo unit.
Cutting a worktop at the weekend, the jigsaw blade snapped off *right at the top*. I am unable to eject the remaining fragment of blade left in the blade holder.
The jigsaw has a fiddly loading mechanism. To remove a blade, you have to push a spring-loaded bit holder back with one hand, then pull the blade out from the recess with your other hand.
Any ideas on how to get this bit fragment out?
Thanks
Mike

wd40 the clamp turn the saw the tight way up open the clamp fully an hit the base plate firmly with something heavy but soft like a mallet or hammer handle covered in rubber

the idea is the blade is knocked loose by the recoil

failing that try and drill a few mm into the blade with a 2mm drill bit but be very carefull not to dammage the clamping mechanism

Could you try gripping the stub of the blade with a pair of needle nose pliers, or better still, haemostats (locking forceps)?

Then press the release mechanism while pulling the remains of the blade out with the tool.
