Hi,does anyone use johnstones white covaplus vinyl matt for ceilings and if so would you recommend it and is it as good as some people say, also when painting a newly plastered ceiling would you use a contract matt as the final finish or just mist coat with it then switch to vinyl matt

Its my goto paint for ceilings. I like it a lot.
Plastered ceiling just thin down some covaplus then two full coats.

This contract business on plaster is a bit of a fallacy. People recommend it because its more breathable than vinyl, but if the plaster is dry there is absolutely no need to buy a separate tub of paint. Its only advisable to use contract matt when a wall has been bonded before plastering because the wall can appear to have dried out when there is still a high moisture content.

Its fine to use contract as a finish coat on walls or ceilings BUT it marks very easily, doesn't wash and is powdery when rubbed down
