I hope the sentences are reviewed as they are unsafe. So his sister runs a business that supplies the Oil & Gas Sector and his parents are both directors.

This judge was clearly in conflict of interest yet he did not recuse himself which shows his level of contempt. He should be struck off, a Judge has to be beyond any whiff of conflict of interest, he was swimming in it.

They were not charged with protesting against fracking. The charges were causing a public nuisance.

The judge did not decide they were guilty, the jury at Preston crown court in August decided they were guilty. ( I recall one pleaded guilty ).

A fine or other non custodial sentence would have allowed then to go back and create more public nuisance.

Some of their activity was putting members of the public at some risk.

Said someone with the square root of FA knowledge about the protesters disruption caused to the locals, who incidentally are largely against fracking.

How the F is that germane to the Judges links to the Oil & Gas industry you moron. Have a retrial.

I like to hold judges to the highest degree of professionalism and objectivity. I strongly believe a just and democratic society requires well remunerated and highly capable judges - so the current review on their salary is recommending a 32% increase to their salary to about £240k for high court judges.

I am all for that if it means we can continue to have world class judges and a world class legal system.
