Kenmore Won't Agitate or Spin, makes noise

Kenmore Dual Action Heavy Duty Washing Machine.
Will not agitate (makes a nasty grinding sound)
Doesn't spin, also unpleasant grinding sound.
When full of clothes and trying to agitate made a squeaking sound and wouldn't turn.
Belt is not broken, although not in perfect condition.
Pulleys are turning, although one pulley, an idler? is off center.
Still drains, fills fine.

Just so you don't think you are being ignored, this is a predominantly UK based forum, to this end most members experience of white goods will be european brand based. However, don't lose heart, you never know!
