kitchen bathroom ventilation problem

our bathroom and kitchen ventilation use the same ventilation pipe in the loft.
The smells from the hob drawn out by the hood end up in the bathroom and some of it goes outside via the roof.

my question is how can i stop the smells from the kitchen being pumped down the pipe and into our bathroom?

you might also be able to put carbon filters in the extractor hood as a temporary measure.
