All help appreciated!

We recently painted our basement kitchen and all seemed to go swimmingly. However, the paint on the ceiling above the cooker has started to peel off. I've had an extractor fan installed in the wall but I want to repaint the ceiling.

Is there a good sealant that I should apply before painting the ceiling again.

Many thanks in advance.

You need to scrape as much of the loose of as possible..its probably down to a build up of grease

Seal with Zinseer

its possibly because you used a normal matt or silk emulsion on your ceiling, which doesnt have the moisture resistence such as a K&B paint. Your best bet, as stating is to sandpaper it down, and paint over it with the correct paint.

If you did use the correct paint last time, it may be because ur plaster needs sealing again. For this i suggest a pva sealer (water down 1:5) then seal ur ceiling before painting. Tbh, it wont hurt to do this before painting with a K&B paint anyway

hope that helps
