I've got a dripping mixer tap.
It's dripping every second (used to be every couple of seconds but seems to be getting worse).
It's dripping from main spout and also down the tap. More so when cold tap is turned.
I have removed the hot water tap, but I can't remove the cold water tap, I've undone the screw holding both taps but the cold water tap still won't come off and I don't know why.
Also the bolt for that valve thing on the hot water tap side is really tight and won't unscrew.

I tried unscrewing the neck but it just spins around and won't come off, I can't see anything spinning underneath the sink either.

1. Cold tap - Handle should just pull off. If it's on tight, try pouring very hot water over it to expand the handle, then carefully pull.
2. Hot tap. Needs more force. Put spanner on hexagon nut with spanner handle upwards. Push top of spanner handle back towards wall. If very tight (and they often are) try very hot water poured over nut and apply more force to spanner.
3. Don't forget to make sure the water is turned off before removing brass bits, which are usually known as cartridges.
4. Once removed, you will need to replace both cartridges (or just the one that is leaking, but the other is likely to go soon). They need to be matched to the ones you have taken out. Screwfix do a decent range at low cost. Tap magician do an extensive range at reasonable prices.
5. You might find replacing the whole tap costs little more than the two cartridges.
6. The spout is usually held in place with a grub screw at the back of the body of the tap. It is sealed against water leakage with (generally) two O rings. From the sound of it your leak is from one of the cartridges, but if from the spout changing the O rings generally clears the fault.

Thanks, I might look at new tap unit altogether then but looking at how rusty it is and hard to reach underneath I guess it's not going to be easy. Hope I don't have to take the sink off. Although I don't like the sink anyway so I could look at a new sink too

Well I managed to unscrew the hot tap cartridge with a proper spanner and not an adjustable one and more force.

Also got the cold tap off, it was solid, bit of corrosion inside so hammered a spanner against it.

There was no grub screw on my tap but I put pliers around the base of the neck and when that unscrewed I could turn the neck and lift it up to access another seal at the base.

However, that gave me a bigger problem because the neck seems a bit loose and sometimes leaks more from the base but I think that's because I don't have exactly the same size seal

Hope I don't have to go underneath underneath and unscrew the entire unit because there isn't much room to unscrew that nut
