Kitchen tap handle - won’t screw back in

Hello,
Our kitchen tap handle has come loose and won’t screw back in fully (it stays in a tiny bit but wobbles a lot and eventually will come off again after a few uses).
The threads seem in good condition, as does the rubber ring. Unsure is maybe another part came off. We tried with some regular plumber’s tape wrapped once around the threads but that didn’t help.
Short of gluing the thing back in, any other suggestions? I might be missing something easy here.
Thanks

It may need a clean and some lubricant applying to the thread.

It's not a reverse thread is it.
Spot of Vasiline on thread

Thanks I did clean the threads with some fairy liquid, and sprayed some WD-40 on it and in the base, but still no grip when screwing it back in.
I am separately waiting for a reply direct from the manufacturer to see if they have any ideas.

I did try screwing it anti-clockwise too, but nothing. You reckon Vaseline would be better than Wd40? I don’t have any but can pick some up tomorrow

Looks corroded, needs a clean with wire wool, you may need to glue in if it’s too worn.

Do you mean it just turns and turns without ever tightening up or that once you screw it in it just comes loose very quickly? Is it wobbly after you've screwed it in? In any case seems like a waterproof epoxy glue would be my choice eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000KKPFFA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_2HKZRH80RWP0448MF5SN

It just turns and turns without tightening. I’ll keep the glue in mind if all else fails, thanks!

Glue (Araldite) or you could try several turns of PTFE tape around the thread to help it fill up the wear.
