Hi all,
The krend is peeling off an extension at my parent's place.

Can I just remove the rest and simply paint over the substrate with a masonry paint? Most of the stuff is peeling (gutter issues, resolved).

I am hoping to use Emperor Paint's stuff. I had it used on mine and it looks great (2 years since).

Thank you

Phone krend technical for advice.

I know you can paint krend but you need the correct paint. I've never seen krend painted as you can clean it..

I should have been clearer - I meant that I would remove the krend and paint the substrate that the Krend peeled off from?

I had a look this morning, and the substrate (somekind of soft sand/cement mix) had been heavily scored to provide a key for the Krend. I guess this means that it will need to be rendered with a smooth coat to allow a nice painted surface.

Is the old render (substrate) specially fir krend? or can it be just rendered or filled over with regular sand cement or exterior filler?

Surely you would just redo the krend if the reason for it's failure has been resolved; by most accounts it's a better product than traditional render.

You assume that I have common sense!

I thought that paint will allow easier repair than depending on a specialist product that is lost on me?

There is no way, I would be able to repair it in the future...but a roller or a paint brush, thats another matter.

Pic of the issue. All walls have this level if damage.

You have a rusty corner bead. Why is that rusty and it's needs swapping for a plastic one.
I think you have damp problems there that needs looking at.
Maybe the slabs against house is not helping.
Aco drain or gravel along would help.
Any water running down cavity from roof?
Any damp inside?
Plenty of YouTube videos on this problem you can use to educate yourself.
If you don't know it would help if you paid to get it looked at and a spec to fix, then decide how to continue

All the damage was a result of the failed guttering over several years. This was worsened with placing loads of things along the wall which probably didn't allow the wall to dry off.

I think you are right, I will get someone to do the repairs and smooth render the walls to match the rest of the house, then do the painting.

Thanks Wayners.
