Laptop

I dropped my laptop on the floor at home and although it powers up the screen is very dark and login message barely visible. Could it simply be that dropping of the laptop caused a connection inside to become loose or am I looking at replacing the screen, motherboard etc... Any advice gratefully received

All LCD laptop screens are backlit, so either you have broken the backlight bulb, or you have dislodged the connection.

Possibly a loose/damaged connection to the inverter. Sometimes there is a removable plate above the keyboard tha can be eased off which will expose the inverter and connections. If the ribbon is damaged, they can be difficult to repair.
