Hello

I have a lath and ceiling in the hallway which has been painted over. It has cracks in it and the edges where the ceiling meets the stairwell are horrible

The ceiling plaster meets the stairwell at architrave around the stairwell. The architrave is round at the edge. The plaster is a 5mm below the architrave. The paint has been used to fill the gap between plaster and architrave which has made it look horrible. See photo.

Can anyone think of a way of tidying it up

As it's L&P it might fall down.

How old is the house?

Can you lift floorboards above this ceiling to inspect it?

Stand back (lie on the floor) and take a wide angle pic of the whole ceiling to show the extent of the cracking

Hi

Thanks for your replies

The house is 1930's end terrace

No able to lift floorboards at moment. I have lifted a section before, nothing untoward

I have stripped some psont away. The wall and ceiling plaster feel strong when I push on them.. See photos
