Lavender in outside pot

Hi

Know how much you like my dumb questions. This lavender was planted about six-eight weeks ago and now seems to be dying.

Unfortunately can’t recall the exact species purchased. Have been watering and adding plant food consistently. (Since before hot spell) Also increased frequency in last month or so-three times a day.

Do I just need to manage and wait for it to return next year?

I suspect it is over watering and possibly over feeding.
You can try very lightly trimming it down, stop the feed and reduce the water to occasional light watering when the soil feels dry at finger depth ( the pot should have plenty of drainage holes, if the drainage is blocked that will add to the problem). It may come back, you'll see new growth if so.
It looks like a variety of French lavender, which is much fussier than English lavender; in our garden the English varieties grow and self seed everywhere, the French versions I tried simply said Pooh! and keeled over.

Many thanks. Definitely has drainage holes. Just my luck I didn't get the "Brexit Lavender" and then managed to drown it in a heatwave.

Take it out of the pot immediately and plant it in a spot where some shade will protect it from the sun while it recovers.
