Made a small 45 degree pitched canopy roof over the front door. Re-Using the old flat clay tiles 265mm x 165mm with 38mm x 25mm battens.

Now I have read and seen a diagram that informs me I need a row of half tiles along the bottom, followed by a row of full tiles.

Trouble I am having is getting the second row to sit onto the second roof batten. If I push it down to the batten the other end of the tile cocks straight up in the air. Do I need to raise the facia board so the first row of tiles rests onto it?

I've also got to put a half tile row at the top of the roof and envisage the same problems here also.

Can anyone offer any advice or point me towards a video etc. to help me understand it better.

Thanks
