Leak from En-suite shower

Hi,

This is my first post-and I hope I do not offend by my lack of knowledge with plumbing matters! Anyway on with the issue I am having & details etc.:

The problem I am having is that I have a leak from en-suite electirc shower unit(1st problem with this 5 yr. old unit) and this has created a 2.5'x 2.5' wide stain on the downstairs ceiling. This is definitely coming from shower as the leak only happened while shower was on and is directly overhead.

*I have checked shower tray - appears fine.
*Checked around the trap and there is no build-up of residue etc.
*The seals are intact also.

Is there anything else I need to check before I call in the plumber!
Could there be a block/loose connection on the pipe run, joining main downpipe down into gully system?

Am stuck for ideas and any recommendations/ways of checking this would be welcome.

Thank you for the tips. Sorry I have not replied to this topic since last posting. I believe the issue to be point 3(descrip. given by Masona), as the first 2 do not cause any leak and after I turn off the shower head and go down to water mark, I can hear a slight dripping sound that is intermittent. What is involved for a non-plumber to sort mixer/pipe and would I need to get someone in. Is it a big job if that is what is the problem?

Okay, try this one,

1, A few bucket of water or watering can and just pour it in the shower tray first then check for leak, if leaking then could be trap or waste pipe.

2. A watercan pour onto on the tiles then check for leak, if it's leaking then its could be the grout or sealant.

3. The shower mixer on but the shower head in the tray area, if leaking that will tell you it's coming from the mixer or pipe etc.
