LEAKING TAP

I have a monobloc type of tap which is leaking from the top. You know the type, one tap, small handle, up is on, left is cold and right is hot - 3 years old.

Just under the handle is a small silvery grommet. Removing this shows a hole with an allen key screw at the back. I undid this, removed it, and expected the tap to come apart. Alas, no. I twisted, turned, wrenched and tapped but is refused to come apart.

Is is just tight? Is it worth trying to repair? Any ideas?

Thanks.

u'll have to bit the bullet and het a quote for a new bathroom suite and boiler / hot water / central heating system..
