Leaky roof / sagging ceiling board

Hi all,

Im currently in the process of dealing with a leaky roof. I'll be getting the roof replaced soon but in the meantime, with all this bad weather, I'm stuck with drip drip drip - all quite depressing.

Anyway, the area of the ceiling where the leak is coming through has dropped by about 1 cm. My question is this: when the roof is sorted and everything has dried out, will it be possible to fix the droopy ceiling board? For instance, might it be nailed/tacked back into place?

Is it lath and plaster or gyproc?

Not sure, but I'm pretty certain it's not plaster. It's quite a firm series of boards that make a kind of a hollow sound when knocked with my fist....

Depends, if its gyproc sheets and is not too badly water damaged it may be possible to screw it back up into position...normally when these sheets get wet they need replaced though.

If its lath and plaster the plaster will need removed and replaced.

Out of interest, roughly how much would I be looking at to replace a section of ceiling, should this be necessary?
