Lesley Ash and Porton Down.

It doesn't matter why she ended up in hospital. She shouldn't have come out in such a state. It is time the filthy hospitals got a reality check.

I am not old enough to remember the 'matrons' but from what I hear MRSA or other bugs infecting patients through lack of hygienic practices would have got short shrift !

When are we going to wake up to the fact that lack of discipline in almost every field you can mention is adversely affecting the quality of life of ordinary citizens ?

You may laugh but we are getting to a Sodom and Gomorrah scenario. Things go in cycles and the 'plague and pestilence' (or worse) to clear out the world and make a fresh start is just about due.

You don't understand MRSA. Around 40% of us have it in our nasal cavities at all times so we take our own MRSA in with us and then blame the hospitals.
You can have a clean hospital but as soon as you allow the humans in - then MRSA is back in town.

OK - but why is a modern phenomonen ? Did our parents come out of hospital with MRSA ?

The answer is in the name. 'methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus'

It has become immune to the effects of the methicillin group of antibiotics.

It's all in Darwinian theory and oversubscription of antibiotics.
Nature will always find a way.

Do you regard the ignorant ranting of idiots who don't check their "facts" before spouting rubbish on an Internet forum as being indicative of that decline in discipline?

joe-90: Yes, I know what MRSA stands for and also that allegedly people
carry it with them. Have you an explanation as to why it is not rife in the general population given that somebody in most households will sustain a cut or graze over a period of a few weeks ?

It's simple really. When people are ill in hospital they are often weak and their immune system is struggling to cope with wounds and operations.
Think of the immune system as a defending army. When the body suffers major trauma such as an operation, the army masses at the site of the breach. Sometimes that army is stretched too far and the invading army get the upper hand. In previous days the doctors would come along and help with antibiotics (tanks on the battle field) so that the defending army regained the upper hand. However, this army has stolen the tanks ammunition so they are no longer able to fight in the battle. That's about it really. It's an invading army that comes out to play when the cat's away. MRSA is harmless to healthy people, which is why you get more problems in a place of unhealthy people such as a hospital. You can't defeat it without new antibiotics, and there are none on the horizon.
Even if there were, it would only be a matter of time before natural selection (Darwinian theory)rendered them obsolete.

I take your point about lowered immune systems, joe, but I doubt that applied to Lesley Ash.....

I saw a current photo of her today and she looks as if her nose has been broken.

Let's say that she has a 'stormy' relationship with Lee Chapman.

seen a photo of her in sundays red tops did'nt look so good, look ill  but not £5 million worth

She isn't getting compensated for "looking ill", you moron. She was paralysed and, if the reports are to be believed, nearly died.

Never realised it was up to the Taxpayer to insure her career.

Standard payouts should be the norm.
