I have a ground floor bathroom with a concrete floor. Because the floor is not level I need to bring the level up at least 25mm. I told that If i used that much self leveling screed it would crack.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Screw 1/2 inch exterior ply to the lowest point then you have less to top up with the self levelling compound but I'm sure that you will be able to pour the compound in stages to raise the level by , say 8mm at a time and let it set and then top up to the level you need with a third pour.

You can add sharp sand to self level which does allow you put it down much thicker. If you are tiling the floor it would be ok anyway cos it only cracks if traffic is directly on the screed.

maintenance man, if I were to add sharp sand to the self level will it take longer to set?

Will levelling the floor detract from the character, and so lower the resale value? Some of the most valuable houses I visit don't have straight, lines let alone horizontals or verticals.
