Hello all,
I am currently in the position of converting our old outhouse into a practice space. It used to be a small corridor at the side of the house, from front to back, with two small rooms off it (washroom and coal bunker).
I knocked out the wall which had the two doors to the rooms, and the wall between the rooms, and now I have one room with concrete floors at slightly different heights (what was previously the corridor is around half an inch lower than the floors of the two rooms, with 2-3 inch trenches (in red) where the old walls were.
The concrete from the corridor just extends out under the doors to form steps either side, so this currently lets some water in under the doors.
I'd like to get all these floors level and prevent water coming under the doors, so I was going to change these doors to open outwards (I'm building a partition wall all round later for soundproofing later with inward-opening doors)
What would people suggest I use for the floor, considering I only want a couple of inches or so depth and only a week or two drying time at most?
I was thinking of using some wood battens under the doors, bolted into the concrete, which would stop the water getting in and serve as a mould for the concrete, any better ideas?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
