lifting a boring colour screening

B

breezer

I have some screening i think it may be willow, its dark in colour and comes in a wired together roll.(lots of small bits side by side IIIIIIII about 6 feet tall

i cant paint it because its natural woody stuff and would look silly.

i was thinking of putting trellis infront of it and painting that, the idea being to stop the dark brown looking so dull.

good idea or bad idea?

if good what colour would you paint it?

2nd thought what about growing bamboo infront of it? again, good idea or bad idea? (for colour i mean)

grow bamboo, no doubt about it. Natural and evergreen. no maintenance. what it will cost to repaint it every year or two will pay for the bamboo.

i hadnt thought of that bit.

is it easy / ok to split a bamboo plant?

i was going to look for a big one and split it if i can

fairly easy, depending on what sort they are. most will split with two spades.

How long a portion of fence is it?

Its amazing what you can do with a saw. (i cut the bamboo plant in half)

here it is in proper daylight.

Just be sure to buy a non-invasive, clump-growing type of bamboo. Otherwise your whole garden will eventually be a bamboo jungle!
