HELP! My home is 100 years old, and the ceilings and walls have what appears to be lincrusta or anglypta on them. The problem is that in the last month, seams have been opening on the covering, and it is starting to sag noticeably in spots. Is there a way to spot glue it back in place, or should I just resign myself to pulling it all down and painting the surfaces?

Take care here Scooter, dont go pulling anything down yet, at this stage I have no interest in either the Glypta or Lincrusta. Tell me is it the paper alone that is sagging or the ceiling beneath it.

Try also to offer advice on the gauge of the paper, this will help to determine whether it is one of the normal Glypta ranges or the linseed oil fused Crusta.

so far, only the covering is sagging. It appears to be a heavier linen under all the layers of paint

Scooter.

You first need to moisten the back of the paper with water and allow to soak for a few minutes. Then you will need to apply a border adhesive, often called overlap adhesive again to the rear of the covering and useing a paperhangers brush, clean cloth, or sponge. re-apply the covering.
