hi,

How do I go about putting Lino down?

It is a wooden floor and I will be putting hard board over the floor boards.

Do I stick the Lino down or just lay it down over the hard board and leave it?

It's going in a bathroom if that makes any difference?

Thanks

you mean vinyl, I'm sure, not linoleum.

Roll it down and smooth it, cut it near to shape but don't trim the edges until it's had a couple of days to relax.

If you can tuck the edges under the skirting (clean the gap first) it will look neater. Later, you can squeeze while silicone sealant into the gap for an even neater look which will resist spillages, dirt and ants.

Loose laid means you can lift it if you have to get at underfloor plumbing.

When laying the hardboard, cut it to fit the edges of the room only. All the joints inside the room should be original factory cuts, which will be straight with square corners so will fit together with an almost imperceptible joint.
