Do I lay the lino directly onto the wooden floor boards or does it need some sort of underlay? This is for my bathroom

It usually has OSB or ply beneath it.
Sheet vinyl can be laid loose or fixed down in various ways.

Thanks. I take it the board can be cut around the basin / toilet. Wouldn't the joins in the OSB show through the lino?

One piece of ply and an offcut will probably cover most b/room floors. The off-cut join goes out of the traffic pattern. Maybe you dont need more than one piece?

You can cut underlayment around anything. Not best practice.

Sometimes cheap vinyl is dropped straight onto the T&G boards if its only for a year or so?

Thanks. The Lino is only off down for a couple of years until we get chance to refit the whole bathroom. I just didn't want the boards showing through the Lino after a couple of months.
