Having blown £40M on the local 'Spa' - massively overbudget... The council assured us that they employed only the best, hence their large salaries... recently a long section of the main A4 road twixt Brissel and Bath was closed for roadworks... this caused major disruption and was entirely necessary, we were assured by an orange topped suite, for guys to properly carry out the works.

Firm fined for sewage leakriver avon: A road repair firm has been ordered to pay £11,666 in fines and costs after it allowed raw sewage to leak into the River Avon.

An Environment Agency investigation revealed that in the course of the resurfacing work many of the foul sewer manholes were covered in Tarmac and these had to be excavated to enable inspection of the sewers.

Sewage was found to be discharging over the weir of one of the sewer chambers immediately below the manhole and flowing into the Avon.

This had been caused by the wet Tarmac blocking the sewer.

Wessex Water organised the uncovering of further manholes to try to clear the sewer and found a quantity of Tarmac in the sewer.

The Tarmac was broken up using a pneumatic drill and cleared, and this finally led to normal flows being resumed and the sewage discharge being stopped.

Self certification ... Don't you just love it?
And if it was not that then the inspector should be sacked, if there ever was one.. Best indeed !
:D
