Loft Conversion - New Joists unable to sit on wall plate.

Real shame we had no outcome from this. Like the two above I have the same problem and can't find a SE able to visit! Anyone know of a good SE in North Somerset!?

It's always difficult to form a loft conversion in houses with raised ceiling ties, unless you are prepared to turn the side-facing hip into a gable (assuming you are a semi?). If it's a terrace or house with a gable, it's not so much of a problem.

Personally I gave up on the idea, had BC round and they said the only feasible way would be to run an RSJ right across the length both sides, which would likely require as above stated converting into a gable for access to loft space to meet regs.

For the cost you would be better off sticking an extension on instead.

Hi Tony, It's a end terrace property. I've actually just tried to contact you before I saw your reply to this!

Thanks for letting me know what happened in your case Adam - shame, I'm not sure we can have an extension where we are. All the best, Rob
