Hi all

On my roof there are sections where the gap between the bedroom ceiling and the roof tiles above is 100mm, basically the height of the joists.

I need to get some insulation in there. I've read somewhere there should be a gap of 50mm between the insulation and the slate tiles, but is that essential?

Reason I ask if this would limit me to 50mm insulation, but I could get 75mm which would be more effective but only leave a 25mm gap. I'd be using thermafleece.

What do the regulations say?

75mm insulation board maintaining 25mm airflow gap will be fine.
