Hi I'm going to insulate my loft, I think I'm going to use foil as it's cheapest and easiest to install, I've read that I need to leave a min 25mm gap between felt and foil, and min 25mm gap between foil and plaster board.

Of I wanted to put 2 layers of foil Could I put one layer on top of another.

Thanks

I would rethink your plan.

There is little reputable evidence that the foils give any real insulation effect beyond a bare minimum.

Standard method is to fill between the rafters with PIR board, then board over with more PIR and plasterboard.

Foil maybe attractive to use, but I think you would be disappointed in the results

If it’s a room you insulate the ceiling, if it’s just storage or empty you insulate the floor.
