Hi all,

I am thinking of increasing the insulation in my loft space.

Currently I have 100mm of insulation between the joists and would like to increase this. The plan is to have another 150mm on top running over the joists and some boards around the loft hatch to add a small amount of storage, not mega important.

Bit concerned with regards to the electrics. Is it best to have these above, inbetween or below layers of insulation.

Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Cheers Marc

If you have cables for an electric shower or an immersion heater, these should not be buried in insulation because they carry a large load near their capacity and will overheat. Lighting cables are so lightly loaded that they are not a concern.

What cables do you have, and where are they fixed?
