Hello, the old house part of the house (7x4m) has smaller joists (4x2in) than the new part (8x5m, 7x2in joists). Now I wish to board it, originally I just planned to do it as it is and have two different height floors, is this OK?

raphael49, good evening.

Suggest either have a step? dependent on use of the loft a step may not be desired? these 4X2s what sort of span do they have?? at this dimension the load they are capable of carrying is not all that great???

Or fix packers to the upper surface of the old 4X2 joists to get them to the new joist height level?

Ken.

I think I will leave as is. Job is getting to complicated. Span is 40cm. Plan is to just board and light storage.
