Hello, I'm looking at putting a loft partition wall in, currently there is none between my loft and the neighbours, it's just not really bothered either party, but seems to be a potential issue from a mortgage/fire protection perspective.

It seems these can literally just be a stud plasterboard wall.

Would I need to build a stud wall entirely using new timber, or can I incorporate the existing diagonal and horizontal rafters nto it?

There is a major horizontal rafter right on that dividing line between the properties so it would be ideal to use that as the main stud!

My terrace has open loft spaces throughout.
My wall was supervised by building control, who were there for another job.
They were happy with two overlapping layers of fire-panel plasterboard, with edges and gaps filled with fire rated expanding foam.
If you are worried about security, or would like to mount stuff on the wall, a layer of OSB can be incorporated.
Placing acoustic batt insulation between the studs may also be beneficial.
