House built 1965, type bungalow.
I have the normal triangle loft trusses coming down from the roof to the floor joists and then connecting to the loft purlins, there is 6 pairs.
My question is there is breeze blocks piles x 4 (2 on either side) under the purlins which are sitting on top of a supportive wall underneath, I’ve been told that these were put first before the triangle loft trusses were fitted and can be taken out albeit provide extra support by bolting the purlins supports to the purlins at these 4 points beforehand. I want to remove them and add 4x4 timber as I’m converting the space for usable space/storage.

Can anyone advise on this one?

Thanks
S

It's your house so go for it. I can't see timber giving any less support than breeze blocks and if your roof caves in just plead ignorance to the insurance company and say the timber supports have allways been there.
