I want to convert my loft into storage space. I haven't got felt underneath the tiles and would like some advice on how to go about insulating the roof. Does the roof need felting from inside the loft or can you insulate the roof without the felt?
You would be wasting your time insulating the roof seen as you will have ventilation eaves which allow air into the area to counteract condensation, which therfore could drop your attic temprature below zero during severe cold spells regardless of additional insulation.
The best thing you can do is ensure all pipes and the tank are fully insulated and a worthwhile option is to lay extra rockwool before laying the chipboard, which gives yourself a mighty fine cheaper heating bill over the years.
