Loose Door Handle

I have an outside door handle that is loose and needs tightening up.

The plate of the handle has screws on one side, but they do not tighten or loosen, just spin in the holes.

The other side of the handle has what I guess are connecting screws, no screw heads, but these also spin when you turn the screw on the other side.

How can I get the plate off to access the handle? Thanks.

I would try wedging a small screwdriver or bradawl between the rotating head and the side of the hole to see if that allows the screw to be removed.
