Hello - I'm looking for some advice, I'm no plumber but willing to give most things a bash.

I have low pressure with my hot water upstairs, especially for the shower which is a thermostat mixer. I have an oil fueled boiler which is a good 15 metres from the house in an external barn, it is a Franco Belge model and acts like a combi, I only use it for hot water. However, it has an internal water storage tank with 120 litre capacity.

My question is, would it be possible to put a pump on the supply to the bathroom only (as this possible) to boost the shower?

I also want to build a shower room in the loft but decided to put an electric shower in there, what size of pipe would be best to keep the pressure as high as possible going up this extra height - I was thinking 12mm, is larger or smaller bore better?

Thanks for any advice.

Where in Herts are you? Some customers we have towards SG4 are so high up, their top floors are only a few feet from the top of the water towers supplying their area.

Search the forum for how to measure pressure and flow and report back.

Thanks Dan - I'm in Herts but the problem is in France. I have looked at previous low pressure issues and will test what flow rate I'm getting from the various parts of the house.

For the shower room in the loft though, would running a smaller bore of say 12mm or a larger 16mm bore be the best option? As I say I plan to install a 8.5KW electric shower.
