We used to have a separate toilet next to the bathroom. When we have the loft extension built the WC was relocated to the bathroom to make way for the new staircase. Since then we have very low pressure supply in the washbasin cold water tap. Every time we use and flush the toilet, there is hardly any water from the cold water tap to wash the hand. I suspect the plumber who relocated the WC might have connected the feed for the cold water tap to the lavatory cistern as well. Is it right to do this or should the plumber have provided a separate feed for the lavatory cistern from the tank in the loft? Can anybody advise what's the remedial work required now to sort this out. Please help!

Dora,

Has anything else changed with the basin, ie new taps.

Also what water supply is the bathroom on, is it mains fed or from a cistern in the loft.

Dora,

Do you know if the toilet is fed off the mains or also off the cistern.

Did you have the basin taps changed at the time of the refurb.

If so what type of tap has been fitted. If a new spangled 1/4 turn, then its probably only suited for mains supplied water.

The toilet is fed off the water tank in the loft. We have not had the taps changed. The water tank had to be relocated to another area in the loft when the loft extension was being built. The tanks is now located behind a tiled wall.

Should the plumber have run a separate feed to the WC cistern from the loft instead of tee off from the pipe that fed the cold water tap? Is it an acceptable practice for the plumber to connect the WC cistern and cold tap in washbasin all on the same pipe?
