I have just had 8 x Aurora fire protection low voltage downlights installed and I want to replace one of the the 2 gang 2 way rocker switches with a dimmer (matt chrome).

2 lights are on one gang and the other 6 are on the other gang on the switch. The lamps are MR16 50W (400W total)

I'm a bit confused as to what dimmer I should be looking for. Research seems to point to an IQ dimmer. I have seen several around advertised as 2 gang 2 way 250/300 or 400W. Do I need a dimmer for the total lamp wattage or, if it was a 2 gang 2 way 300W dimmer is that 300W per gang or 300W total.

Any advice appreciated.
