I am currently having my kitchen and bathroom redecorated. Can anyone give me some advice as whether low voltage or normal mains lighting is best?

I would like to fit halogen spotlights.

Thanks.

Personal choice, really.

ELV can seem cheaper, until you consider what good quality transformers cost, and can be harder to dim and the cabling can be harder to install, however the light they produce is generally considered to be "brighter" and whiter than mains halogens.

FWIW, I personally would never bother with ELV lighting.
